Founded by Dr. Robert Coronado in 2011, The Coronado Vein Center is the only comprehensive vein center in Northern California run by a cardiovascular specialist. Equipped with state-of-the-art operating rooms, cutting-edge technologies, and a like-minded staff with caring, service-oriented philosophies, The Coronado Vein Center has become the premier facility in venous treatments and is a designated training center of excellence for physicians looking to add the treatment of venous disease to their practices. To better serve its patients, The Coronado Vein Center has expanded its locations to include Chico, Sacramento, and Yuba City.
About Dr. Coronado
Dr. Robert Coronado is an interventional cardiologist and vascular specialist recognized as an enlightened leader in the field of venous insufficiency and the treatment of varicose veins. Dr. Coronado lectures at conferences both nationally and internationally and has been acknowledged by the International Association of Cardiologists as one of the leading physicians in the world in the treatment of venous disease. Most recently, Dr. Coronado co-founded the American Society of Cardiovascular Phlebology and maintains his role as Vice President as well as an elected member on the Board of Directors for the California chapter of the American College of Cardiology.
Born in Hermosillo, Mexico, and the eldest of five children, Dr. Coronado grew up in the small Northern California community of Marysville. After high school, he returned to Mexico, where he attended preparatory school and graduated college with a bachelor of science in biochemistry. In pursuit of his dream to become a physician, Dr. Coronado attended medical school and graduated from the esteemed Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico City. Returning to the United States, he completed his internship in internal medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital in Detroit, Michigan, followed by a residency program at the University of Arizona, where he also completed a nephrology and hypertension fellowship. Dr. Coronado completed his cardiovascular disease fellowship at the University of California, Davis Medical Center, followed by a coronary interventional fellowship and a peripheral vascular disease fellowship at the Cardiovascular Institute of the South in Louisiana.
Following extensive education and training, Dr. Coronado returned to the West Coast where he entered private practice, educating, diagnosing, and treating patients of various cardiac and vascular disorders. Dr. Coronado is fluent in Spanish as well as English and is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, and interventional cardiology.
